Certi stati del Design
December, 17th 2006 – January, 30th 2007

The Galleria Paola Verrengia, in collaboration with the architect Nunzio Vitale, is pleased to announce “Certi stati del Design”, a group exhibition dedicated to 11 contemporary designers of some of the most prestigious design houses, on December 17th 2006, Salerno, Italy.
Eleven designers, eleven products. The British Amanda Levete, Jasper Morrison, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Mark Holmes and Sebastian Wrong represented by Established & Sons, the one-year-old design and manufacturing company whose visionary approach has forged a new model for design companies of the 21st century. The team won the “Designer of the Future” award at Design Miami/Basel 2006. The Japanese Tokujin Yoshioka, whose ToFU lamp is part of the “Design and Architecture” collection of the Museum of Modern Art of NY. The Dutch designer Tord Boontje, who created an incredible collection of furnishing fabrics and curtains for Kvadrat with his highly detailed and intricate patterns. The American Harry Allen with a series of wall hooks/holders based on highly detailed casts of the designer’s own hands. The French Karine Jollet, who designed a line of breadbaskets for C. Quoi, genuinely exploring the relationship between container and content, and Maxim Velcovsky, one of the most prominent names in a new generation of Czech designers; his work is tempered by a cynical approach to the consumer culture’s wasteful excesses, which is particularly evident in his glass pieces modelled after plastic cups.
