Tom Dixon News. Tom Dixon
Tom Dixon from 19/12/02 to 30/1/03

The British designer, born in Sfax, Tunisia in 1959, focuses his peculiar research on unusual materials and manufacturing processes, addressing his work towards what can be defined as “creative recycling”. The multifunctional Jack lamps, similar to gas molecules, can be used as single lamps, stools, luminescent columns, table basements or mere artworks. They have become a classic of contemporary design. The latest developments of Tom Dixon’s research have brought him to the “Fresh Fat Plastic” series (realized through a machine that produces plastic fibers poured inside handmade stamps while they’re still hot) and the recent extendable screen.

The exhibit has been curated by Paola Verrengia and Nunzio Vitale.
