The exhibition Pop Art in Italia.  Ieri, oggi, domani (Pop Art in Italy. Yesterday, today, tomorrow) opens at the Galleria Paola Verrengia  on Sunday 18th November at 11.30 am. Curated by Antonello Tolve, it includes works by Valerio Adami, Franco Angeli, Romina Bassu, Mario Ceroli, Michele Chiossi, Francesco De Molfetta, Tano Festa, Giosetta Fioroni, Giampaolo Frizzi, Lucio Perone, Mario Schifano, Giuseppe Restano and Emilio Tadini. In keeping with the Gallery’s 25 years of activity and research into different forms of contemporary art, ranging across diverse forms of poetic expression and generations of artists, the exhibition focuses on a contemporary art theme in Italy, which has opened new roads providing a “happy way out from the impasse of the informale.” (A. Tolve).

There is a historical nucleus of some of the most significant artists of Italian Pop Art, whose work dating from the early ’60s represented a period which was “stimulated by the freedom to focus attention on contemporary objects, myths and rituals, the forms of expression of consumer society and their cult “(A. Tolve). Alongside this, six figures of more recent generations of art are on display creating a hypothetical continuity between the past and the present. Far from any philological and historical thread, Pop Art in Italia. Ieri, oggi, domani is a moment of reflection on an atmosphere capable of capturing the various facets of everyday life, of showing all those products that the cultural industry has generated and continues to generate in what Dorfles has defined as being a pulsating present.
