DIPINTO Contemporary Jewels Design / Sandra Dipinto
December, 21st 2014 – January, 21st 2015

On Sunday, December 21st 2014 at 11.30 am the Galleria Paola Verrengia will present a solo show of works by the Neapolitan designer “DIPINTO”.

Trained as a professional designer, Sandra Dipinto signs her production of PVC jewels only with her last name.

The experiments with various shapes and materials have contributed to turn her creations into an actual contemporary design project. Her research is mainly focused on the deconstruction of certain creative activities in virtue of a contamination between art, design and fashion.

Sandra Dipinto has been selected with a new generation of Italian designers in the great traveling exhibit promoted and set up in 2013 at the Triennale di Milano – “The New Italian Design” – curated by Andrea Branzi and currently hosted in South Africa by the “Cape Town World Design Capital 2014”.

The PVC “World of Dipinto”—a light plastic, flexible and multicolor material—invades the space of Galleria Paola Verrengia with a series of micro-sculptures that can be worn or exhibited. These creations are characterized by essential and abstract shapes or simply reproduce the elements of nature – lotus flowers, tulips, etc. – or give life to the miniature version of a fantasy animal kingdom inhabited by cats, dogs, bees, parrots, owls, etc.

Many elements of a self-produced design realized in series or limited edition that oscillates between pop and minimal references and can be inserted in the multiform collection of the current plastic interpretations of contemporary jewelry.

On display more than 50 creations realized in colorful PVC – necklaces, pins, bracelets, etc. – proposed as a selection of the DIPINTO “Jewels” from 2008 to the present.

Sandra Dipinto graduated in 1993 at the ISD-Istituto Superiore di Design ( Napoli). Particularly significant is the collaboration from 1999 to the present with the studio of Rossana Buriassi in Milan for the creation of accessorizes for stylists such as Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani Privè, Thierry Mugler, Prada and others. In 2008 she founded the “Studio 137a” in Naples, a multidisciplinary lab of art professionals such as graphics, photographers, architects and designers. The same year she launched a line of accessorizes signed with her last name, characterized by the research of innovative materials assembled through the canons of contemporary design. In December 2009 she had her first solo show, PVC Petits Vaniteux Cadeaux,at theFondazione PLART of Naples. In 2013 she participated in the Triennale di Milano for the group show “The New Italian Design”, with a stop at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco in 2013, in Santiago del Cile and in Cape Town in 2014. Some of her creations have been presented at several international museums such as the MFAH – The Museum of Fine Art of Houston and the Norton Museum of Art of Palm Beach, and exhibited during the NYGF of New York and the MAISON OBJET of Paris.
